Housing Project in the UK

Expert quantum report to assist in an adjudication

Our Brief

The works consisted of groundworks, substructure and drainage on a social housing site. Our client was the civil engineering subcontractor undertaking groundwork elements on a new-build housing project. There was a variance between the main contractor’s assessment of work undertaken and that of the sub-contractor. The matter was brought before an adjudicator for determination.

The Services

We were asked by the tribunal to provide an opinion on the extent of the contract measurement, variations, extension of time and prolongation costs which all formed part of the dispute between the Main Contractor and Sub-Contractor and amounted to a variance of some £500,000. Our expert report included a full remeasurement and quantification of the works, variations and the effect of these on the programme.

The Benefit

Our subsequent expert report was used to positive effect by the Tribunal in its assessment of the award, resulting in the Sub-contractor achieving an amicable settlement of its account.
